Scripting Suite Pro Bug Alert 2022-12-09

We have discovered a bug in Scripting Suite Pro (JssPro) app for Jira v3.4.2 and 3.4.2B, which may affect a normal operation of your Jira instance.

Description

Under some circumstances uninstalling the JssPro app may lead to disabling all apps and addons in your Jira instance, including UPM app, which may make Jira unusable. To resolve the issue Jira must be restarted. After the restart Jira runs normally.

This is not a security vulnerability.

The bug is fixed in the upcoming JssPro v3.5.0. However, upgrading an app includes uninstalling the previous version, which consequently may trigger the bug.

Mitigation

Choose a quiet hour to perform an upgrade of the JssPro app to version 3.5.0. Be ready to restart Jira should the need arise.

How to know if I’ve been affected?

On uninstalling/upgrading of the JssPro app the progress dialog hangs for more than 1 minute. If you try to reload the Manage Apps page, 404 ‘Oops, you've found a dead link.' error will appear. At this point immediate Jira restart is required. After the restart check 'Manage apps’ page to ensure all required apps are enabled and functioning.
